2026 CARE AWARDS SHOWCASE GOLD-WINNING PROJECTS

The VRBA's 35th annual event presented 52 awards to Canada’s leaders in West Coast home design and construction

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Victoria Residential Builders Association announced the Gold winners at the 2026 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards of Vancouver Island held Friday, September 25th at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

Fifty-two awards were presented at the 35th annual event attended by more than 200 builders, designers, trades and suppliers – Canada’s leaders in west coast, home design and construction.

“Congratulations to the winners and finalists on their outstanding projects and setting the gold standard for new homes and renovations,” says Brian Trenchard, Chair of the 2026 CARE Awards. “A special thank-you to MC Astrid Chang, Destination Greater Victoria for making the CARE Awards another fun, entertaining evening.”

Project of the Year – Single Family went to M. Knight Construction and Jenny Martin Design for Harbour Stone. Project of the Year Multi-Family / Subdivision was won by White Wolf Homes for Aveline. The People’s Choice Award went to Made to Last Custom Homes for The Cove.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Terry Johal, Terry Johal Developments for an outstanding career in residential construction. The Gordon English Housing Leadership Award was won by Dom Piluso, Piluso Construction for achievements in home building and giving back to the community.

Green Builder of the Year promoting sustainable residential construction was awarded to Abstract Developments. The Award for Innovation and Sustainability went to GT Mann Contracting. The Award for Hartland Renewable Energy and Efficiency was won by Città Group. Awards for Small Scale Multi-Unit Housing and Multi-Generational Housing and Affordability were won respectively by Kahlon Developments and Langdon Weir Construction.

The Building Better Futures Community Award went to Westhills Land Corp, PATH Developments and Verity Construction for developing affordable, energy efficient communities and creating better futures for thousands of young families. The Bill Wansbrough Memorial Award went to Wil Peereboom, Victoria Design Group for his achievement designing thousands of projects throughout Greater Victoria.

Two apprentices - Erik Bergen, Stillwater Custom Homes and Renovations and Denys Okhrimenko, White Wolf Homes were each presented with $500 for their outstanding work. The Herman Rebneris Student Carpentry Award of $500 was also provided to Jarom Coad, a straight A student from Edward Milne Community School.

The Gold winners will be displayed in a full-colour magazine distributed by the Times Colonist on Saturday, October 31st. The winners and finalists will be available online shortly at careawards.ca.

In addition to celebrating the CARE Awards, the VRBA advocates for professionalism, education, consumer protection and housing affordability. Incorporated as a non-profit in 1940, VRBA is comprised of 180 builders, renovators, designers, trades and suppliers.
